Construction crews at the Cigar Factory have discovered some cool, old items in the building.
A sign dated 1888 and bottles were discovered during construction.
The bottom sign reads, “Notice. Employees of this company are NOT ALLOWED TO HAVE MATCHES about their persons, or in their pockets while in the Mill. R.B. Adams, Supt.” The top sign includes “Charleston Manufacturing Company” and cursive handwriting, and is dated January 23, 1888.
Also found were several old bottles. These bottles originally contained medicine and alcohol.
Below are photos of the bottles being unearthed, as well as a photo of the sign.
