In the last few weeks, positive data on the real estate market has been pouring locally and statewide.

The Charleston Regional Business Journal reported that “the number of homes solds in South Carolina has risen for the second-straight month” with a 13% increase in June sales compared to May (although May saw a 16% increase over April’s sales). According to the SC Association of Realtors, “Charleston posted a 9.4% increase in June sales compared with May.” Also, the median price rose from $142,000 to $147,000 in May, and the average number of days a home was on the market decreased from 155 days to 144 days in May.

The Post & Courier also reported this news saying, ”New home sales jumped a surprisingly strong 11 percent last month. That increase beat analysts’ expectations and marked the highest jump for newly built homes in nine years,” and “Sales haven’t risen for three straight months since early 2004, during the last housing boom.”
